Uranium ore concentrates (U3O8, or yellowcake) received at Solstice-MTW for conversion must meet certain specifications to ensure the quality of UF6 delivered to our customers. Only natural origin (non-irradiated) uranium concentrates containing 0.711% U-235 are accepted for processing.
Solstice-MTW conversion
The Solstice-MTW conversion process allows for removing many impurities up to certain levels. Concentrates not meeting or exceeding the “Maximum Limit Concentrates” may be rejected. When concentrates fail to meet the “Standard Concentrates” requirements, but do not exceed the “Maximum Limit Concentrates” values, surcharges are assessed.
